Black Sand Beach…

No Snow~~Only Beautiful Warm Sunshine !! part 1

Before getting cranked up for the summer, Jimmy and I managed to squeeze in one more trip to a warmer place~~Hawaii. It has been several years since we were there…needless to say, it is still as beautiful as ever !! The Big Island has more lava and active volcanoes which make the landscape a little different.

We did see snow flying over the U.S.

This was our view from our 5th floor room at the resort….

You were taken to your tower by a train or boat…the resort sported acres of waterways…


These little guys were swimming around the dock…there were many of them….


The resort had dolphins in the lagoon…

HURRY !!! Call the Fire Department !!!

At the recent Bible Study, the room blazed with smoke and light as the birthday cookie was presented to Jimmy for his “65th” birthday. He is now officially a member of the Medicare Crowd !!!

It took several people to light all 65 candles…


It took quite awhile to blow them out, considering that they were the relightable kind !!!

He received many useful gifts…a lovely over the hill birthday hat from Melissa…and a BIG diaper and pin set from the Jacey, Joss, and Jess.


This lovely “GEEZER” cap was a gift from Jason and Daniel Trayler…the glasses were from Allison and Meagan….

This nifty t’shirt was from LeAnn and Megan….now he won’t have to worry about taking so long dressing…he will have his tie and vest together in one shirt !!

Loralee didn’t know what all the fuss was about…so she decided to take a little nap…(She hoped that Jimmy appreciated the gift that her family gave him….a baby bottle and tiny “cars” utensils…she might have used them herself sometime !!)

This poem was written to Jimmy and given to him by Meagan and Allison….I thought it was so cute !!

Dear Bro. Jimmy,
Now that you’ve reached the top of the hill…
We hope the air pressure won’t make you ill..
If it does, just hit the recliner…
Then relax and take your pill.
We hope that your joints last as long as you do…
Although we really don’t expect them to..
And because of that we’re pretty sure, a cane will have to do…
We won’t take it personal, the next time you hit our vehicle…
Because we all realize, Life’s struggles are now optical…
So as you open your presents today, we hope you’ll let us say…
We really, really, wish you a very Happy Birthday !!

Now, wasn’t that cute ??? Thanks a bunch for all that gave Jimmy all the nice, USEFUL gifts.

A Cruise to the Bahamas

In January we went on a cruise to the Bahamas…we saw some beautiful sights.
Our ship…Carnival Destiny

We took a tour around Grand Bahama Island and saw this school of dolphins following the wake of our boat…they were so neat !!



This guy was doing the limbo and passed under the lowest part with a fruit drink atop his forehead…he didn’t touch the floor and didn’t drop any of the drink…





The grandkids would have loved this play ship !!!

We thought this sign was interesting….

The Aqua Theater had dancing water and diving shows…all the entertainment had olympic stars in them…


The ship boasted a skating rink…The Ugly Duckling was performed…


On the last day all the performers were in a “Lollapalooza Parade” down the center of the Royal Promenade Deck…




At the end of the parade, streamers dropped down from the ceiling…


Needless to say this ship was one BIG cruise ship…the next 3 pictures show three sections of the ship…

Cruising on the Largest Ship Afloat: More Haiti

We really didn’t know what to expect of this tiny country…it is supposed to be one of the poorest countries….but it was really pretty…

This little group entertained us as we came ashore…

Here you can see the zip lines above the water…



This house was owned by some of the “richer” folks…


A lot of people rented the jet ski….they went around the island on these…there were a lot of them !!

Cruising on the Largest Ship Afloat !! Part 5

We arrived in Haiti early in the morning…we were greeted by a beautiful sunrise over the mountains…

We docked in Labadee, Haiti….

The natives from Haiti greeted us with a native dance and song…





We took a water tour in Labadee and saw this…the tour guide said this was a motel of sorts !! Can you imagine ?? The picture below was of a small village we passed…the houses seemed to be of a poor class of people…but notice the satellite dishes ???

This little taxi boat came by….the guys aboard all waved and hollared at us…they seemed to be really happy…we called this “The Haitian Cruise Boat”

These Taxi boats were everywhere…

This was a zip line that stretched from the mountain across the ocean to this end…it had 5 lines…

Jimmy thought this car was cool….

This would actually rise in the air and go to the next floor..underneath would be a display of fountains and lights…they served drinks on this…

This deck brought out the child in a person..

We ate lunch at Johnny Rockets….diner style …
